Host Tours & Events

We welcome visits to Westmill and host regular tours and events to help visitors to discover how clean, green energy can be created.

One of the most popular tour series that we run is our scheduled public on-site tours. We also run ad-hoc bespoke tours for large groups; plus, from time-to-time, we run large-scale ad-hoc open days and seminars.

Site Tours and Events

Join one of our regularly scheduled public on-site tour days, or invite your school, university, club or association to join us on a bespoke tour on a date of your choice.

Our team of volunteer guides will enlighten you about renewable energy and share the eventful history of the Westmill site. You'll learn about the installation and energy generation of our turbines and solar panels, how they work and how they are owned by the local community!

We also run events at Westmill through the year.

Seminars and Conferences

We invite schools to ad-hoc education programmes, consisting of interactive sessions with hands-on, collaborative activities. We also hold unique conferences featuring compelling speakers. These sessions explore topics such how solar power can work in harmony with farming and nature. Sign up to our newsletter to find about about future seminars.

Open Days

Our Open Days - held on-site at Westmill - not only feature regular tours (with rare access inside our turbines!) but have also included live music, blacksmithing, kite-making, storytelling, pedal antics, bouncy castles, treasure trails, hot food and hands-on fun. These tours and events take place on an ad-hoc basis and will be advertised in our newsletter and on our social media channels.

I support Westmill Solar because it directly benefits communities and individual investors in clean energy projects uncompromised by the conflicting interests of large corporations.

When I first saw the share offer for Westmill Solar I thought what a great idea, the interest is better than the banks. But that was not the main reason for investing, it was the idea I would be helping my son and others with a better cleaner future.

I like the fact that the wind farm is producing home grown renewable energy and is 100% community owned.

I am a DIY investor who started reading up on investing at university before taking the plunge by purchasing index funds in 2010. I am still very enthusiastic about renewable energy and thanks to a healthy interest payment every year, I haven't missed the money I've invested.

I became a shareholder in Westmill Wind Farm Co-operative because I wanted to take some responsibility for the energy that I was consuming. I also wanted to be part of a community that championed the move towards renewable energy.

I invested because I believe in local, renewable energy projects.

I have very little savings and no experience in stocks and shares but wanted to support your initiative. I thought that it might not lose money and possibly give a return equal to bank savings account.

I joined and invested in Westmill Windfarm Co-operative because I believe in the absolute necessity of switching to renewable generation, and preferably in community ownership - why is it taking so long?
