Build the Movement
At Westmill Energy we aim to be leaders in the Community Renewable Energy movement.
We seek to share the benefits of community energy and show how other communities and individuals can join the movement.

Support for other Co-operatives
As members of Energy4All, Westmill Solar and Westmill Wind are part of a family of over 35 other co-operatives who support one another. When possible, Westmill Solar and Westmill Wind support other co-operatives to start up or to fund development projects. Not only does this approach help to build the co-operative movement, but it also upholds one of the seven co-operative principles: Co-operation among Co-operatives.
Our Partners
Westmill Wind and Westmill Solar Co-operatives are members of Energy4All (E4A) and rely on E4A for administrative support. E4A is the UK’s leading social enterprise in the delivery of community owned renewable energy schemes.
REScoop.eu is the European federation of energy communities. Westmill Wind and Westmill Solar co-operatives are both members of REScoop.eu.
CEE is a not for profit organisation providing a voice for the community energy sector and help to create the conditions within which community energy can flourish. Westmill Wind and Westmill Solar are both members of CEE.

Running Workshops
Westmill Sustainable Energy Trust (WeSET) runs a variety of events and workshops on site, and in the community, to encourage and promote the deployment of sustainable energy through arts and education. Previous events have included: a one-day conference, ‘Solar Power, Farming and Nature: Maximising the Benefits’, the Moths to a Flame project run by The Art and Energy Collective, and a Sustainable Energy Fair.
Westmill Wind and Westmill Solar co-operatives seek to educate and inform our members on the benefits of community renewables. As part of this, our members are periodically offered opportunities to attend seminars and training courses. Previous events have included: a Westmill Futures event to allow members to discuss the direction they would like the co-operatives to go in, two events with the Centre for Alternative Technology, and forums for members to increase engagement.
Contributing to Consultations
Westmill Wind Farm Co-operative, WeSET and Westmill Solar Co-operative are lucky to have teams of enthusiastic and knowledgeable directors, trustees, volunteers and employees. In addition to their work with the Westmill organisations, these individuals also contribute to wider movement-building events and organisations, such as through contributing to consultations.

Hosting MPs + Policy Makers
Located in Oxfordshire, the Westmill site is in close proximity to Westminster and easily accessible for visits from policy makers. The Westmill site is also unique in that there are two different renewable energy technologies on site. This allows policy makers to have an up-close and personal experience with two kinds of renewable energy production. Furthermore, our story as pioneering organisations in community renewable energy shows policy makers the benefits of supporting community renewable energy projects.
If you are a policy maker, we would love to welcome you to the site. Please visit our Visit Us page to learn more about arranging a visit.
