Westmill Solar allocates over £27,000 through its community funding grants scheme

Following applications from a wide and variety selection of organisations, Westmill Solar is delighted to announce that it has awarded over £27,000 to local community organisations during 2024.

In addition, Westmill Solar has also helped two crucial community buildings in Wiltshire to save energy, resources and money, by funding improvements to the buildings through its Wiltshire Village Halls Project.

The projects funded this year include:  

  • Creating a more accessible entrance to allotments for workers and students from Special Needs Schools to safely and easily access an allotment;
  • The installation of solar panels and a battery system for energy storage;
  • Installing a propagation unit to allow increased production of plants;
  • Supporting households facing fuel poverty;

The Funded Projects:

£5,000 to Thame Players Theatre Company to remove roof tiles ready for the installation of solar PV panels on the roof of the theatre building.

£5,000 to Sustainable Wantage to support residents suffering from fuel poverty.

£3,000 to Milton under Wychwood Village Hall to install 17 solar panels with a Smile G3 5kw battery, following an energy assessment.

£5,000 to Shrivenham Bowls Club to install a solar and battery system.

£5,000 to Vale Community Impact to support households suffering from fuel poverty in the Vale of White Horse area.

£4,232 to Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool to create a more accessible entrance to its allotments for staff and students from nearby Special Needs Schools.

£5,000 to The Kitchen Garden People to fund a unit in order to expand the propagation part of their business.

£5,000 to Agnes Smith Advice Centre to support households suffering from fuel poverty in the Blackbird Leys area.
