Westmill Solar Community Funding Grant Scheme opens
The Westmill Solar Co-operative Community Funding Grants Scheme, which supports projects in the local area, is now open for applications.
The grant supports organisations that:
- Raise awareness of climate change, its solutions and how to reduce its impact
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions of individuals, organisations and communities, through energy generation, energy efficiency, or more efficient use of resources
- Reduce fuel poverty to ensure everyone can access and afford the energy they need
More information about the scheme can be found on our Community Funding page. The full criteria for applications can be found in the guidance notes.
The deadline for applications is Monday 14th September 2026.
Since the Westmill Wind and Solar farms were set up, they have supported local, national and global initiatives which align with our cooperative principles, giving over £1m to community organisations. Examples of projects that have previously been funded include:
- The installation of energy efficiency measures such as insulation, secondary glazing, and new windows and doors in different community buildings
- The installation of solar PV panels on community buildings
- Contributions towards community outreach and advice services
- The relighting of a community building with LED lighting
This is just a small snapshot of what has been funded in the past; all made possible through our members’ ongoing commitment to sharing the profits from our renewable energy production with the community.
