WeSET volunteer nominated for award
One of WeSET’s team of volunteers has been nominated in an annual celebration recognising the contribution of volunteers throughout Oxfordshire.
Nick Boulter from Witney was acknowledged for his work as a Westmill tour guide in the Volunteer of the Year Category for the Volunteer Celebration Awards 2025 run by Oxfordshire Community & Voluntary Action (OCVA).
Now retired, Mr Boulter began volunteering for WeSET in October 2023 after a 45-year career as an Acoustic Consultant and Project Manager. During his time with WeSET Mr Boulter has met and greeted groups of all sizes, engaging with each group on the operation and significance of Westmill, as part of WeSET’s programme of wind and solar farm tours.
The application for the nomination, submitted by WeSET, remarked on Mr Boulter’s “high level of proactiveness” and “becoming WeSET’s most active volunteer during 2024”. Positive feedback for Mr Boulter from attendees to Westmill tours was also noted.
Upon receiving the accolade, Mr Boulter said: “I feel very honoured to have been nominated for this award. Volunteering with WeSET has been a fascinating experience for me which I have enjoyed enormously. To be recognised in this way is a wonderful bonus for which I am very grateful.”
Jenny Bowley, Deputy CEO at OCVA, said: “We were thrilled to see a fantastic range of high-quality nominations, all of which told stories of the dedicated and passionate volunteers, and volunteer organisations, that Oxfordshire is fortunate to have.”
Tours of Westmill can be booked through the Westmill Energy website.
