WeSET holds comic co-creation workshops
WeSET was delighted to team up with author and academic Dr Dom Davies and illustrator and storyteller, Kremie Dimitrova to run our first comic co-creation workshops.
Focused around designing a new sustainability superhero – a character that makes a positive difference in our world and encourages others to take action too – the workshops also help to reinforce a positive message about the small actions that we can all take to protect our world.
As well as providing the children with a fantastic opportunity to be creative, work collaboratively and show innovation, the workshops are also designed to help children to gain skills in communication, reflection, discussion and planning.
With two successful workshops under their belt, WeSET now hopes to roll out the scheme to many other schools in the area; spreading a positive message of environmental action and empowering children to act as ambassadors in their own communities, recognising, celebrating and initiating changes that help us all to look after our world.

An academic and published author, Dr Dom Davies‘ work focuses on infrastructure and how this shapes how we think about politics. He has written several books and contributed to many journal articles about the impact of infrastructure and how this relates to empire, colonialism and nationalism, with a particular focus on community and justice.
Kremie Dimitrova is an illustrator-as-historian, who has worked with many national and international organisations to explore culture, history and heritage. Kremie has collaborated with many groups and organisations to produce art using a wide range of mediums, including creative writing, drawing, printmaking, collage, digital art and comics.
