
Tom Parkinson
Chair
Tom has been on the board of Westmill Solar since 2013 and Chair since 2016. He became involved in community renewables after completing a renewable energy module at the Open University in 2010 and working with the team behind the launch of Co-operative Energy in 2011. He was one of the founding members of Energy Local CIC and helped implement their initial 2015/6 trial to match domestic demand directly with locally-generated electricity in the three villages closest to Westmill. He is a member of various other renewable energy societies and a trustee of Eyes for East Africa UK, a charity supporting the work of the Kwale Eye Centre in southern Kenya.
Tom qualified as a solicitor in the City of London and worked for 25 years as an in-house lawyer at various media, publishing and technology companies. Alongside his initial degree from Oxford University, he also holds an MBA from IESE in Barcelona.
