Adam Twine

Landowner and Founder

Adam Twine is one of the landowners of the Westmill site. An organic farmer for over 25 years, Adam farms 1,200 acres between Westmill Farm, where he is part owner, and as a tenant of the National Trust at Colleymore Farm. With a background in campaigning against nuclear power along with other environmental and social justice campaigns, Adam became interested in alternative energy sources in the 80s. Adam was one of the driving forces behind the development of Westmill Wind Farm and Westmill Solar Farm and was a founding director of Westmill Wind Farm Co-operative when it was established in 2004.

Outside of his work with the Westmills, Adam set-up the Farm Carbon Cutting Toolkit, a not for profit information sharing organisation, to engage with farmers about climate change and take actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from farms. he has been active in environmental and social justice campaigning for many years, and was the 2007 recipient of the Schumacher award.
